Storing and freezing our chilled dog gravy

Good gravy belongs in the bowl. The rest belongs in the fridge. Our dog gravy is a chilled product, so a little planning helps you choose the right number of pouches for your dog.

Put it in the fridge on arrival

Keep our gravy refrigerated at 5°C or below. Reseal the pouch after serving and return it to the fridge promptly.

Check the storage instructions, batch information and use-by date on every pouch. Follow those instructions for the batch you receive; do not calculate a new shelf life from the day your parcel arrives or the day you open it.

Plan the pouches you will use

A single pouch contains 500ml. Use the feeding guide for your dog and think about how much you will serve before the labelled use-by date. Smaller dogs may take longer to get through a pouch than larger dogs.

Choose a bundle that fits your fridge and freezer plans. The product pages explain the current pack sizes, subscription options and delivery details.

Freeze the pouches you are saving

Our current product guidance allows home freezing. Freeze any pouches you will not use in time promptly on arrival, while they are within their labelled use-by date. Follow the freezing instructions on the pouch.

Keep the batch label readable so you can check the product instructions later. Freezing does not make a pouch suitable to use if it was already past its use-by date.

Thaw in the fridge

Thaw frozen gravy overnight in the fridge. Keep it refrigerated after thawing and follow the pouch’s instructions for how soon to use it. Do not refreeze once thawed.

Check the label before the next pour

Storage and thawing instructions belong with the batch you receive. If a date or instruction on your pouch is unclear, contact us with the batch details before serving it.

Birdy has the fridge organised. Bran is supervising the next bowl.
